Narinder Batra: “Am not disappointed”
Hockey India General Secretary Narinder Batra, whose brain wave now jinxed India-Pak series is, takes the things on its stride when he dwelt the issue of cancellation of the series.
“We received intimation from External affairs to postpone the series. Since, we don’t have a window right now, it effectively means cancellation. Yes, the developments in the last couple of days and the reaction of the government across the border, I tend to support this decision of cancellation of the tour.”
In sync with the national mood, he feels that respect and dignity of the country are the things at stake right now and those cannot be compromised in any way.
“I am not disappointed because of this cancellation. Nowhere in the world anybody will compromise respect and dignity. The way events have unfolded in the last few days, offer us no right climate to hold series of this kind”.
”
I think the political establishment on the other side needs to understand one thing clear: You cannot have soft exchanges when you show humiliation and disrespect. If such kinds of series do not happen, they don’t happen. That’s all. So I can’t help it now.”
