NEW DELHI: The President of the suspended Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), Mr. K.P.S. Gill, has convened the annual general meeting (AGM) of the IHF here on September 17.
The agenda for the AGM includes adoption of the accounts of three financial years (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08), appointment of an auditor, nomination of representatives to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and pending legal cases and IOA’s action against the IHF.
After bribery charges came up against the then Secretary General of the IHF, Mr. K. Jothikumaran, the IOA had suspended the hockey body in April and had set up a five-member ad hoc committee to look after the affairs of the sport.

Later, the International Hockey Federation recognised a body named Hockey India as the authorised entity to run the game in the country. The IOA ad hoc committee and the women’s hockey federation together came under the new body. The official confirmation to this is expected to come at the IOA’s General Assembly scheduled in November.

Challenging the suspension, the IHF has filed a case in the Delhi High court. — Sports Reporter
