Norther Railway win the Inter-Railway men’s Cup

Lucknow, April 13: Despite trailing by a solitary goal in the opening minutes of the
, Northern Railway finally came out winners 4-2 against SER to win the 67th InterRailways Championship.

SCR took the lead in the seventh minute with junior India star Innocent Kullu converted
a penalty corner(1-0).

This allowed Secunderabad outfits to continue dominating the
proceedings. Their defenders as well as goalkeeper RK Pfokrklo denied
NR men a chance to level the score with some brilliant efforts.
But, Ravi Bharti struck the equalizer
with in the 24th minute (1-1).

SCR again gained the lead through Pawan
Changappa 2-1).

Harjeet Singh shot a PC
into goal to equal the score in the 32nd minute (2-2).

Prem Kumar put NR ahead with a field goal
in the 63rd minute (3-1), and a minute before the hooter Raju
completed the formality with another field goal (4-2).

For the third place match, last year’s champs Western Railway knocked out West Central
Railway (WCR), Jabalpur 3-1 to finish third. Rajneesh Chaudhury
(12th), Chandrakesh Kumar (53rd) and Chinglen Sana (69th) scored for
the winners, while Merajuddin (18th) scored the consolation goal for
WCR.
