OGQ Launches ‘Power your Champion’ program
New Delhi: Not-for-profit Foundation Olympic Gold Quest announces the launch of a new program called ‘Power your Champion’ to create involvement among Indians and to raise sustainable funding to fulfill its mission of creating Olympic Champions.
The ultimate goal of the ‘Power your Champion’ program is to get a million Indians to contribute at least `100 each per month, which would go towards the training and preparation of India’s top athletes across Olympic sports.
The rationale of this initiative is simple. People spend much more than `100 every other day at coffee shops. OGQ endeavours to reach out to the people of India to channelise a similar amount of money as a contribution every month towards a program that could create India’s next Olympic Champions. If “Power your Champion” is a success, OGQ could support the training and preparation of at least 2000 grass root level athletes. Currently OGQ supports 22 athletes.
Tech Process Solutions Limited, a leading electronic transaction processing company is handling the process and backend work for the program to ensure the highest degree of security and privacy. They will overlook and structure the regular monthly donations that can be done by a simple one time standing instruction, by filling a mandate form. All accounts will then be audited and available for public consumption. All contributions will get 80G and will be eligible for income tax deduction.
OGQ has already done initial groundwork and managed to attract 8 companies whose employees are supporting the ‘Power your Champion’ program viz. Edelweiss Capital, Deutsche Bank, Serviceberry Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Syntel Telecom, KK Nag Ltd., Neilsoft Ltd., Weikfield Products Co. Pvt. Ltd and BMC Software Pvt. Ltd. Students from Indian School Business (ISB) and IIM Ahmedabad and members of Young India (Youth wing of CII) are also contributing to the program aggregating to more than 4000 supporters of the program.
OGQ co-founder and 8 time World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi remarked, “It has long been our dream to make OGQ into a national movement. The ‘Power your Champion’ program is the first step in this direction.”
Badminton legend Padukone added, “This program enables the common man to take pride in contributing to the movement. If anyone is excited about what OGQ is doing and wants to support the cause, all he has to do is contribute as little as `100 a month and that will make a difference. This program epitomises the fine blend between business and sports.
The strength of the ‘Power your Champion’ program lies in its simplicity and the power of volumes. OGQ wants every patriotic Indian to contribute and make a difference to India sport and to feel the pride when the national anthem is played at the medal ceremony.
Our mission is to win Olympic gold medals and for that to happen, OGQ needs the support of the people. We want to inspire the people to take the initiative”
“It takes just 6gms of Gold to lift the worth of a Nation.”
