Hockey is India’s national game, and is an integral part of the

country’s sporting culture. This open air game, apart from building

physical fitness, helps youngsters develop their personality, imbibing

qualities such as stress management, leadership, decision making

skills, teamwork and self confidence.

One Thousand Hockey Legs is a program envisaged by the Hockey Citizen

Group, aimed at providing school children with an opportunity to

understand, play and enjoy hockey.

Our charter is as follows

* Form one or two hockey teams per school
* Conduct friendly matches between schools
* Form a combined school team in each city
* Participate in State and National level competitions
* Hold exhibition matches on special occasions
* Organize an annual Hockey Run
* Mentor exceptional talent for the national team

* Organizing competitions
* Playing kit and sportswear for competitions
* Special training expertise
* Soliciting professional players to interact with students
* Hiring of synthetic turf for practice
* Formation of an academy to groom talent
* Pre and post training refreshments
* Technical support through Government agencies
* Prizes, incentives and scholarships
* Quiz programmes
* Awareness literature
* Marketing, publicity, promotion and sponsorship efforts
* Space on this website to highlight school’s activities

What is expected of Schools
* Willingness to promote hockey
* General co-operation towards the program’s activities
* Rs.1000 subscription per annum
* Safeguard equipment and kit
* Playground for practice & training at school
* A liaison officer
* Circulate hockey related literature
* Approval to form teams and participate in competitions
* Freedom to select teams, formulate training methods
* Permit students to witness and participate in competitions
* Transportation of players for training and matches
* First-aid plan and injury care
* Facilitate interaction with children’s parents
* Publicity of program on campus
* Assistance / facilitation for marketing and sponsorship initiatives
* Accept email communication
