OTHL: Citizen Hockey outplay Gujarat for a fluent 5-0 win
Led by a brace each from captain Sushil Chauhan and livewire forward Rahul Gharai, Citizen Hockey XI had an easy day against Gujarat as they beat them for a fluent 5-0 score.
Playing only second time in the Sub-Junior Nationals after getting affiliation from Hockey India, the NGO team showed its scoring prowess against state outfit Gujarat today at Dr. Kaku Hockey Stadium in Jammu on the fourth day of the 5th Hockey India Sub Junior National Championship.
Rahul Gharai struck in the 14th minute to open scoring through a great solo field effort. This was immediately followed by the second goal in the 19th minute by Sushi Chauhan who completed a penalty corner opportunity successfully.
Leading the game 2-0, the second half saw the more quality game from Citizen Hockey XI which is a combined school team of One Thousand Hockey Legs Project of NGO, Hockey Citizen Group. In the 39th minute the young team scored their third goal coming again from the stick of Rahul Gharai.
Captain Sushil Chauhan again struck through another penalty corner (4-0). Looking in complete control of the match Citizen Hockey XI slammed another goal in the 65th minute through the babe of the team Pawan, a class 8th student.
