Day I (4.1.2007): Match No.1: Chennai Veerans defeat Hyderabad Sultans 4-1.

As Hyderabad Sultans misses the plethora of opportunities it created, the hosts Chennai Veerans availed almost their chances to romp home a fluent 4-1 win in the inaugural day of the 3rd Premier Hockey League at Chennai.

A brace of goals by captain Adam Sinclair and a goal apiece by Vikram Kant and Suresh was replied by the Sultans in the fourth quarter, through a late penalty corner deflection by Vikram Pillay.

Hyderabad generated a whopping nine penalty corners against three by their rivals, but their converter Didar Singh, so monotonous in his manoeuvres, could do nothing.

It is for the first time Chennai Veerans, who were relegated in the first PHL 2005, won the first match.
