A protest rally consisting of hockey Olympians, internationals, present & former players and sports lovers will be taken out in New Delhi on wednesday.

The rally will commence from Ranjit Singh Overbridge (near Modern School), Barakhamba Road New Delhi at 15 hours and will terminate at Jantar Mantar, hub of political dharnas and slogan shouting in the capital city. The rally will pass through Tolstoy Marg before terminating at the designated area.

According to organizers, the rally will be a token protest against the way Indian hockey is being mismanaged in the country.

Hockey legends like Ashok Kumar, Col. Balbir Singh, Triple Olympian Hari Pal Kaushik and Sukhvir Grewal appealed to all players and sports lovers to join them in the rally which in their words is ‘in the hour of crisis and help building a public opinion against those who mismanage our National Game of Hockey’.

It is learnt that the rally was to be taken out on Tuesday, the 19th December, which is the 40th Anniversary of India winning its first ever Asian Games hockey gold, but had to be held a day late due to an unexpected administrative hassle.

At the end of the day, a memorandum will be submitted to Sports Minister and President, Indian Olympic Association. However, details of the memorandum are not made public as of now.
