IFSM chief Chandran named tourney doctor of Asian Games hockey
NEW DELHI: Indian Federation of Sports Medicine (IFSM) president P S M Chandran has been named as the tournament doctor for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China from November 12-27.
Chandran has been in the International Hockey Federation ( FIH) panel of medical officers and his name as tournament doctor has been nominated by Asian Hockey Federation, a statement said on Tuesday.
Chandran, who is currently the programme officer with the Sports Authority of India, has the distinction of supervising the medical cover for over 200 international hockey matches in the past at the Asian Games, Asia Cup, Champions Trophy and Junior World Cup.
The men and women hockey competitions of the Asian Games are scheduled to start on Saturday and will continue till November 25.
