World Series Hockey on schedule after HI-IHF arrangement

NEW DELHI: The cloud of doubt that threatened to disrupt the million-dollar World Series Hockey (WSH) has been after the warring factions Hockey India (HI) and Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) entered an interim arrangement on Monday.

IHF president RK Shetty and Hockey India secretary Narinder Batra both announced in unison that the “matter has been resolved”.

It will be good news for the international players like Arjun Halappa, Adrian D’Souza, Sardara Singh, Sandeep Singh, Prabhjot Singh who had initially been banned for attending the WSH press conference skipping the training session at the national camp in Bangalore.

“I can assure you that we have kept in mind the interest of the athletes. All the issues will be resolved,” Batra said.

However Batra also didn’t forget to mention that both parties will be able to meet their individual contractual obligations.

“WSH is a tournament organised by the IHF. They will go ahead with it. Similarly, we are planning to have our own league and will come out with an arrangement in due course of time,” the HI secretary-general stated.
