Rani Rampal is the only Indian to get FIH nomination
NEW DELHI: Fifteen year old striker Rani Rampal is the only Indian to get nomination as FIH announced the list for various Player of the Year categories.
Rani has been nominated in the FIH Young Women’s Player of the Year award along with Australia’s Casey Eastham who has been re-nominated in the category after having won the award in 2009.
Argentina’s World Cup winning attacker Daniela Sruoga and China’s Zhao Yudiao complete the line-up, with both players making a big impression at the highest level in 2010.
However none among the senior Indian men have received nomination in the Men’s Player of the Year category. The nominees in that particular category include Australian captain Jamie Dwyer, English captain Barry Middleton.
The others include Moritz Furste of Germany, Teun de Nooijer of The Netherlands and Jong Ho Seo of Korea, according to an FIH press release. Both Dwyer and De Nooijer have won the award four times each.
