Punjab athletes corner glory in school games

PUNJAB DEFEATED Haryana 3-2 to clinch the girls’ under-19 hockey title in the 54th National School Games at the Maharaja Bhalinder Singh Sports Complex, which concluded in Patiala on Monday Karnataka finished third.

In the boys’ under-19 hockey event, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana finished first, second and third, respectively.

Punjab bagged girls’ under-17 basketball title after beating Delhi 52-45.

For the third spot, Madhya Pradesh defeated Rajasthan.

Punjab also won the boys’ under-17 basketball title after beating Delhi. Maharashtra defeated Chattisgarh for third spot.

In weightlifting, home team won three gold while Maharashtra secured one gold. Punjab won gold in boys’ under-17, under-19 and girls’ under-19.

In Judo, Punjab won three gold medals in different categories.
