India’s Rani Devi scored three goals against Belarus on the second day of the BDO Junior World Cup helping to lead India to a 6-0 win here in Boston, USA. The victory brought India to a perfect 2-0 tournament record. This allows for India to move confidently into the next phase of the tournament.
The second pool D match pitted host USA against Australia. Australia bounced back from the defeat on the first day to take an early one goal lead against the USA in the first half. Australia continued to send a powerful message with a goal in the first minute in the second half of the match. Ten minutes later, the USA countered with a goal of their own by one of the youngest players on the US team, Marta Malmberg. However, Australia maintained their slight control over the match to come away with the win, 2-1.
In other day 2 action, England drew with Korea in a very competitive and evenly played match in Pool A. While both teams scored many goals in their first match, neither team allowed for the other to do so on day 2.
England came out firing with a goal in the first minute, after which both teams constantly fought for possession. Korea’s penalty corner goal to tie the match in the first half was countered by England’s own penalty corner goal in the middle of the second half, but Korea repeated England’s play in the beginning of the match by scoring in the 69th minute to come to a 2-2 draw. The second Pool A match between Chile and France was also evenly played. With a goal in each half, however, Chile prevailed over France 2-0.
