July 1: Bengal Hockey Association president J.B. Roy lashed out at the newly formed Hockey India, saying people who are not connected with the game are at the helm of affairs.
Roy had earlier called for a “fair election in a democratic manner” to the new, unified body to handle administrative affairs of the game.
At the sidelines of the unification of the BHA and the Women’s Hockey Association of Bengal on Wednesday, Roy minced no words to question the credibility of the umbrella body put in place by the Indian Olympic Association to run both men’s and women’s game, as per the FIH guidelines.
“I don’t recognise it. People at its helm are not at all related to hockey,” J.B. Roy said.
