India defeats Belarus for a clean slate in the pool

Despite poor penalty corner conversions and missing a stroke, India managed to romp home a fluent 5-1 victory over Belarus in its third and last pool match of the Champions Challenge Cup II at Kazan, Russia.

Its again the veterans in the team, captain Surinder Kaur and winger Saba Anjum, who kept the scoring jaggarnath rolling.

Captain Surinder Kaur scored a field goal and then converted a rebound to score a brace of goals while her younger but experienced winger Saba Anjum scored another three goals, second hat-trick for India after Ritu Rani posted one against Canada on Monday.

Saba scored two field goals and another from penalty corner rebound.

However, India got 9 penalty corners, but converted just two and also missed a stroke.

Belarus got three PCs and failed to scored anything.

This is third win in the league for India, and with this it will now take on Ukraine in the semis on 26th. Thursday is rest day at Kazan.
