Samsung renews contract with FIH

Samsung renewed its sponsor contract with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Friday, when FIH President Els van Breda Vriesman and Samsung Electronics President Hay Keong Yang signed a new four year contract at the Samsung Benelux headquarter in Delft, Netherlands.

Samsung started sponsoring the FIH in 2003 and is the fourth WorldHockey Partner signing a contract until 2010. Earlier, ABN AMRO, BDO International and AtaHolding confirmed their partnership with the FIH for the coming four years.

‘We are extremely happy that Samsung remains one of our WorldHockey partner’, FIH Els van Breda Vriesman. ‘This shows that Samsung is a trustful partner of the FIH and that hockey is an important sport for this multinational company.’

Samsung, also TOP Sponsor of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will have the title rights for four major FIH events. This year Samsung will be the title sponsor of the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy men, to be played in Lahore, Pakistan from 1 until 9 December 2007.

Furthermore, Samsung will be the title sponsor of the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy women in 2008, 2009 and 2010. The FIH recently awarded the Samsung Hockey Champions Trophy women in 2008 to Monchengladbach, Germany.
