The most wanted list which can enlighten hockey scenario is out. With that the Indian hockey’s most kept secret also comes to the public knowledge.

An enterprising journalist, having an eye for detail, and working with papazari zeal, has done it. One the eve of Indian team’s preparatory camp starting in a couple of days in Bangalore, the same city based hockey brain has brought out a list of Olympians who want Carvalho to continue as coach.

In fact, the whole of India was groping in dark on this issue, Sports Ministry could not sign the Charlesworth’s contract for want this list. Thankfully, the leading light has worked overtime and broke the news. God bless the writer and in the interest of hockey, let India produce — not talented players — but great promoter and supporters of hockey like this senior journalist, whom we wish become national editor soon, considering single-handed effort to rebuild the crumbling hockey edifice.

For the benefit of the s2h readers, the list is given below:

LIST OF OLYMPIANS WHO WANT CARVALHO AS CHIEF COACH

M.M. SOMAYA (Presently Technical Director, IHF)
MERWYN FERNANDIS (Presently Technical Director, IHF)

MOHD SHAHID (1986 World Cup Captain)

V. BASKARAN (2006 Asian Games Coach)

BALBIR SINGH Sr. (1982 Delhi Asian Games Manager)

After a bit of research, s2h also found out some others also wanted Carvalho as the coach. It certainly includes 1986 World Cup coach Ajit Pal Singh.

Note: s2h remembers the same new breaker also broke the list of legendary players that Carvalho produced as a coach, interestingly, on the same day the Sports Ministry called a meeting for deciding Dronacharya awards last year.

Note 2: David Wallenchenky’s Olympic Record book wrongly says there are around 100 hockey Olympians in the country.
