Feeling the pain of series of reverses that our national game of hockey has seen in the recent times, the city of Amritsar seems to taken up the responsibility of doing the damage control in its mite. The city schools have risen to meet the challenge to regain the lost supremacy of hockey sport
Prof.Randhawa, a hockey promoter in his own right, visited Amritsar Public School, Focal Point on 19th September 2008. He addressed the Morning Assembly where he recounted the achievements of Indian Hockey in the past. He also referred to the magic of Dhyan Chand’s & Balbir Singh’s, because of whom the country has acquired numerous laurels. His address inspired the students to dance for the promotion of Indian Hockey in the spirit of CHAK DE INDIA.
After the assembly was over, as a symbolic gesture of enthusiasm, the school’s hockey players played a game for a reasonable time. Their demonstration of the game and its skill was appreciated by the Resource Person, Prof. Randhawa and all other members present.

who is the main culprit involved in destroying of INDIAN HOCKEY?? If u are truely a hockey fan answers with good reasons…!!!
Common public, who don’t bother about hockey. if they alert, media would not have forgotten hockey, wrong people would not have entered hockey administration. and then the schools and collges where importance is for learning and securing marks rather than over all developmenet. I think now the schools are concentrating on all round development of students not just mark scoring machines.
I understand your feelings. There are so many factors for hockey’s downfall. Why we have to bother about those negatives. Let us think and start afresh so that at least from now good things start happening. I like these schools in Amritsar doing so much for hockey. i think soon Amritsar will produce many many hockey players of repute.
yaar dekho kheddo hockey kini burri halat ho gayee va is vaar te qulaified v nahi hoye so plzz plzzzzz play hockey from heart n to win bas eve timepass na karoo yaroo te mere veer team vale v thodi sharam kern te mehnat kern
It wud be rudent to talk about Hockey in India is treated in comparision to Cricket. Hockey..d national game of india…dun make fun of national game atleast..by neglecting it..jus spendin ol ya tyme on cricket…Is there any1 who cud say that Hockey is treated on par? No way, n more so bcos of comercialisation of cricket, a money spinning game for all, players, boards and people with influence. Y not there b tide to rise a voice to give equal importance and make other sports like Hockey to flourish like cricket by giving them good infrastructure, good avenues, best coaches, exposures and breeding? I think the main debace lies in partiality of the powerful n vested hands. Changing national games to the money spinning one will do wat good?
It is said that Chandigarh is Hockey crazy city but hopefully Amritsar city will also be considered to be Hockey Craziest city, the way the Amritsar schools are promoting Hockey. Thanks to the tireless effort of Prof.Randhawa,as the resource person, the way he is going to address daily assembly of school will surely attract the attention of school going childrens. Our education institute must introduce National game Hockey.Amritsar has done CHAK DE HOCKEY moment, soo other cities will also be in grip of Hockey.God Bless!!
