Pinegrove, Sherwood win

The 11th Sub-Junior Inter Public School Hockey Tournament for boys, which took off today at Pinegrove School, Dharampur, opened with the hosts winning against YPS Patiala .
Eight teams from various schools – YPS, Mohali; YPS, Patiala; Daly College, Indore; The Punjab Public School, Nabha; Sherwood College, Nainital; The Lawrence school, Sanawar; St. Soldier Divine Public School, Panchkula; and the hosts Pinegrove are participating in the three-day tournament.
The hosts showed their supremacy right from the first match trouncing YPS, Patiala, by a huge margin of 6-0. Nikhil Verma of Pinegrove scored three goals while Nischay Kapoor, Anurag and Rajvansh scored one goal each to complete the formalities.
In a keenly contested match, Sherwood College, Nainital, whipped YPS, Mohali by 6-0. Sidharth scored 4 goals while Sourav and Jujhar scored 1 goal each for Sherwood.
In the third league match Lawrence School, Sanawar, and PPS, Nabha, failed to hit the goalpost and the match ended in a goalless draw. In another match which was played between Pinegrove School and Lawrence School Sanawar in the later half of the day, Pinegrove emerged victorious by 2-0. Nikhil and Deepak scored one goal each for Pinegrove. Lawrence School boys tried to bring the host team under pressure in the second half but Pinegrove lads had their defense intact and thwarted all efforts of the LSS boys to score any goal.
