TN OA Committee Submits Report

Aug 13: The two-member committee set up by the Tamil Nadu Olympic Assocation to verify the claims of two warring factions in the state hockey has submitted its report. The failure of a group spearheaded by for IHF Secretary K. Jothikumaran to seek affiliation under the guidelines laid down by Hockey India has handed the inititiave to the factin led by Chelladurai Abdullah.

TNOA Senior Vice president and TNAA President WI Davaram, one of hte commitee members, told this newspaper that “there was no claim for affiliation fromthe body headed by K. Jothikumaran.”

“Chelladurain Abdullah-led faction, on the other hand, has formed a body — Unified Tamil Nadu Hockey — aper the norm fo Hockey India including proportional representaiton (40%) to the women’s wing. We have recommended Unified Tamil Nadu Hokcey to the TNOA for affiliation to the naitonal body,” he added.

After the INdian Olympic Assocaiton disbanded the Indian Hockey Association and formed Hockey INdia the TNOA at its annual general meeting on July 19 had entrusted the job of filing a report on the issue to Davaram and his fellow senior vice-president N. Ramachandran within in 20 days.

Davaram said, “I think the TNOA would already have forwarded our recommendation to Hockey INdia. THe two-member committee has done its job and it is up to Hockey INdia to give a final verdict.”
