Ranchi, 22 May 2015: The fifth day of the 5th Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) Div B saw some fierce clashes between the best teams who played to earn some crucial points today in Ranchi. The day began with Hockey Himachal Pradesh defeated Hockey Madhya Pradesh by 3-0 in Pool C. Followed by this, was a battle between Hockey Bhopal and The Mumbai Hockey Association which was won by Hockey Bhopal by 4-2. The third match of the day in Pool A, Chandigarh Olympic Association outplayed Assam Hockey by margin of 20-0. In another match it was Hockey Mizoram who dominated the entire game and went on to win 29-0 over Hockey Uttarakhand.

In the Pool C match today between Hockey Himachal Pradesh and Hockey Madhya Pradesh, the former defeated the latter by 3-0. Both the teams attacked from the first minute and it looked like they were equally matched in skills and tactics till the first goal was scored. Luck favoured Hockey Himachal Pradesh in the 18th minute when Shanaj, finding an opening, scored a field goal, successfully opening the account for her team. Hockey Madhya Pradesh, looking for an opening, attacked with full intensity but was denied by the opposition’s strong defence. Hockey Himachal Pradesh doubled their lead in the 40th minute with the help of a successful conversion of a penalty corner by Kajal. Hockey Himachal Pradesh sealed their victory over Hockey Madhya Pradesh, in the 55th minute by a smashing field goal by Priyanka taking the final tally to 3-0.

In the Pool C match, Hockey Bhopal trounced The Mumbai Hockey Association 4-2 with the help of Priyanka Yadav’s brace. Taking the first lead, it was Manshi Belgaonkar from The Mumbai Hockey Association who scored in the 9th minute by a brilliant field goal. Not bogging down to the pressure, Nandani Sanwale for Hockey Bhopal equalised in the 20th minute by a field goal. Hockey Bhopal increased their lead to 2-1 in the 22nd minute by Kavita Ragdi. Dominating the match, Hockey Bhopal scored once again in the 26th minute with the help of Priyanka Yadav’s field goal. The Mumbai Hockey Association doubled their score with the help of Lynette Lobo’s beautiful field goal in the 27th minute. Priyanka Yadav coming to the rescue for Hockey Bhopal, scored again in the 31st minute taking the tally to 4-2. The Mumbai Hockey Association put every tactic in their game-plan to gain lead over their opponents but was denied by the superior line of defence and skills of Hockey Bhopal. By the final whistle, Hockey Bhopal won the match by 4-2.

In the last match of the day, Poonam and Shalu Mann’s five goals each helped Chandigarh Olympic Association (COA) completely outplay Assam Hockey by a huge goal margin of 20-0. Chandigarh Olympic Association dominated the match from the first minute and Sharmila opened the account with her brilliant goal in the 4th minute of the match. The next minute, Shalu increased the lead by 2-0, when she sneaked into opponent’s half and sent the ball in the goal-box. Inspired by first two goals, Poonam scored two back-to-back goals in 6th and 8th minute of the match taking the team score to 4-0. In the 10th minute, Akshita Yadav dribbled into the opponent’s defence and hit the ball hard into the nets for the fifth goal for her team. Dominating the match, Chandigarh Olympic Association scored goals in regular intervals as Shalu added to the tally in the 13th & 16th minute, Poonam in the 14th minute and Manisha in the 15th minute scored four consecutive goals, adding a goal in every minute. Leading by nine goals, Manisha contributed 22nd & 33rd minute and Poonam in the 30th & 36th minute led the attack and added two more goals each to take the score-line to 13-0. Riding high on confidence, Chandigarh Olympic Association continued their attacking game and Shalu, Sharmila and Manisha’s three more goals in 38th, 40th and 42nd minutes of the match strengthened the team’s position further. In the 55th minute, COA earned a penalty corner, which was perfectly converted by Sarabdeep Kaur to extend the lead by 17-0. Shalu, Sharmila and Akshita scored the last three goals of the match in 58th, 62nd and 68th minutes respectively. With the spectacular team-work, Chandigarh Olympic Association won the match with difference of 20-0.

The match between Hockey Mizoram and Hockey Uttarakhand was a completely one sided affair as the former slammed 29 goals to win the game 29-0. Leading from the front was R Lalsangzwali who scored nine goals and was followed by Lalremsiami with her eight goals. Not wasting time Hockey Mizoram started the proceedings as early as the 1st minute when Lalremsiami scored a brilliant field goal. taking a cue from her 5th minute saw the second goal of the match as Lalrindiki made no mistake in converting the penalty corner. 11th, 12th, 15th and 17th minute saw four quick goals by the team as they took the score to 6-0. Before going into break the team added five more goals to the tally as the first time score stood at 11-0 in Hockey Mizoram’s favor. The second half saw a similar story as the team rained goals leaving the opponents completely in a daze. They added 18 goals in the second half before registering the game in their name at 29-0.
