Ranchi, 28 May 2015: The teams playing now to book a berth in the semi-finals stage exhibited fabulous performances as they aimed to earn the crucial points which would help them enter the semi-finals which is slated to be played on 30 May 2015. The first match for the day witnessed Hockey Haryana securing an easy win over Chhattisgarh Hockey as they went on to beat them 13-0, whereas Hockey Gangpur-Odisha outplayed Hockey Andhra Pradesh by a huge margin of 18-0. In pool D, Hockey Odisha defeated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu (UTN) by a difference of 10-0.

In the first match of Pool C, Hockey Haryana blanked Chhattisgarh Hockey by a margin of 13-0 today with the help of skipper Jyoti’s spectacular four goals which turned the tide in Hockey Haryana’s favour. It was a one-sided match as Hockey Haryana scored their first goal in the 5th minute through Manju Chorsiya’s brilliant stick-work. Skipper Jyoti answered next for Hockey Haryana by smashing four consecutive field goals in the 10th, 11th, 19th and 31st minute taking the tally to 5-0 leaving the opponents too stunned to react. Continuing the momentum in the second half, Hockey Haryana increased their lead to 6-0 with the help of Dimple’s brilliant field goal in the 47th minute. Looking to further strengthen the hold on the match, Hockey Haryana crushed the opponent’s defence by adding three field goals in the 48th,49th, and 53rd minutes to increase the lead by 9-0. Hockey Haryana kept on scoring goals in regular intervals with the help of Savita’s brace in the 60th and 62nd minute alongwith Dimple and Komal Rohilla’s brilliant field goals in 54th and 67th minutes respectively which ensured them to register a huge win of 13-0.

In the second match of Pool C, Hockey Gangpur- Odisha beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh with a huge margin of 18-0. Both the teams fought neck-to-neck, giving no chance to their opponents. After the initial tussle, Hockey Gangpur- Odisha attacked in the 4th minute earning a crucial penalty corner which Rinki Kujur successfully converted, to take the early lead. The next minute the team added its second goal which was scored by Sushanti Minz, taking the scoreboard to 2-0. Post the early jolts, Hockey Andra Pradesh made attempts to bounce back but Hockey Gangpur – Odisha as they confidently added two more goals in the 11th and 17th minute and the scorecard read 4-0. The score-board continued to tick and soon reached 9-0 at half time and this was possible with Hockey Gangpur-Odisha successfully finding the nets in the 21st, 23rd, 24th minute and 35th minute. Moving to the second half, while Hockey Gangpur-Odisha continued to dominate as they showcased tremendous hockey skills, Hockey Andhra Pradesh was seen on their back foot throughout the game waiting to recover. The session saw Jiwan Kishori Toppo penetrating the opponent’s defence and rammed the tenth goal in the 42nd minute to extend the lead to 10-0. This still didn’t stop them as they slammed eight more goals and taking the game by 18-0.

In a Pool D match, Hockey Odisha defeated Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu (UTN) by a difference of 10-0 with the help of Elima Minz’s marvellous five goals. Odisha dominated the match from the first minute as Mariamma Kujur opened the account for her team in 2nd minute when she sneaked into opponent’s camp with her quick run and hit the ball into the goal-box. Inspired by the first goal, Elima and Ashim Kanchan scored two goals in 19th and 23rd minutes respectively. Leading by three goals, Elima struck back and hit two back-to-back goals in 25th and 26th minutes to increase the lead by 5-0. In the 38th minute, Priyanka Kujur stormed into opponent’s half and sent the ball into the nets to score the sixth goal for her team. In the next few minutes, Hockey Odisha kept the ball in UTN’s half and managed to earn two penalty corners in 48th and 52nd minutes, which were perfectly converted by Priyanka Ekka and skipper Manju Lakra respectively to extend the lead by 8-0. In the last minutes, it was Elima again who scored two more goals in 62nd and 65th minutes to help her team to post a convincing win over Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu by 10-0.
