Ranchi, 21 May 2015: The fourth day of the 5th Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) Div B witnessed some intense battles between the teams who played to win their respective matches today in Ranchi. The day began with a victory for Chandigarh Olympics Association as they defeated Hockey Gujarat by 17-0 in Pool A. Followed by this, was a battle between Hockey Bihar and Assam Hockey which was won by Hockey Bihar by 8-0. The third match of the day in Pool B, Hockey Patiala defeated Kerala Hockey by margin of 13-0.

In the first match of the day in Pool A, Chandigarh Olympics Association (COA) outplayed Hockey Gujarat by a huge margin of 17-0 with the help of skipper Lakhwinder Kaur and Sharmila’s spectacular four goals and brilliant hat-tricks from Poonam and Manisha. COA dominated through-out the match and Shalu Mann opened the account in the 3rd minute of the match when she sneaked into the defence-line and hit the ball into the goal-box. Inspired by the first goal, skipper Lakhwinder scored two back-to-back goals in 6th and 9th minute of match and took the score-line to 3-0. Sharmila and Lakhwinder extended the lead to 5-0 when they hit two goals in 11th and 23rd minute of the match respectively. Riding with the team’s confidence, Poonam led the team from the front and scored two goals in 30th and 33rd minutes. Skipper Lakhwinder stroke back again and scored her fourth goal in 37th minute to take scorecard to 8-0. Playing an aggressive game, COA was scoring goals in regular intervals and this time, Manisha hit three back-to-back goals in 39th, 42nd and 49th minute of the match to increase the lead by 11-0. Leading by eleven goals by now, COA maintained their attacking game and kept the ball in opponent’s half. Sharmila scored her second goal in 53rd minute, which followed two goals from Poonam and Akshita Yadav in 60th and 63rd minutes. In the last minutes, Sharmila score two more goals in 66th and 69th minute to increase the score-card to 16-0. In the 70th minute, Amrit Pal Kaur scored the 17th goal for her team. With the marvellous team-spirit, COA defeated Hockey Gujarat by 17-0.

The match between Hockey Bihar and Assam Hockey witnessed the former team defeating the latter by 8-0 to emerge as the winners of the match. From the onset, Hockey Bihar showcased wonderful attacking skills and did not let the opponent’s score even a single goal throughout the match. Very determined Hockey Bihar scored their initial goal in the 3rd minute from the stick of Mahima Kumari through a field effort. The second goal was added to the tally by Mohini Kumari in 16th minute which marked 2-0 on the score card. Giving no opportunity to Assam Hockey to score, Neha Kumari Rai and Mahima Kumari quickly struck a field goal in the 23rd and 26th minute respectively. Gaining excellent support from Kajal Lakra, the team added a brace in the 28th and 31st minute to take the scoring at 6-0 in the first half of the game. In the second half Hockey Bihar completely dominated the match when the winning team added 2 more goals to its account to claim a 8-0 win over Assam Hockey.

In the third match of the day in Pool B, Hockey Patiala defeated Kerala Hockey by margin of 13-0 with the help of Santosh Kaur’s marvellous eight goals. The match started with Hockey Patiala’s domination over Kerala Hockey from the first minute. Hockey Patiala drew the first blood in 8th minute when Santosh sneaked into opponent’s half and sent the ball into the nets for an early lead. Nisha Tiwari extended the lead by in the 19th minute 2-0 with her spectacular goal. Santosh stroke back and scored two back-to-back goals in 20th and 22nd minutes of the match to take the lead to 4-0. In the 27th minute, Jasmine Kaur surprised her opponent with her speed and scored a quick goal for her team. Followed by her, Santosh and Navjot Kaur hit two consecutive goals in 33rd and 41st minute to extend the lead by 7-0. Hockey Patiala’s start player Santosh once again attacked with her dribbling skills and hit three back-to-back goals in 45th, 48th and 51st minutes. Leading by 10-0, Kirandeep Kaur entered the opponent’s half and scored the 11th goal for her team. In the last minutes, Santosh and Navjot stroke back and added two more goals in 62nd and 63rd minutes. With the aggressive game-plan, Hockey Patiala registered a thumping 13-0 victory over Kerala Hockey.
