Subhadra Gets Player of the Tournament Award

India’s Subhadra Pradhan, 23, has been adjudged as the ‘Best Player of the 7th Women’s Asia Cup’, held in Bangkok final of which was played on Sunday here.

India has defeated highly rated Korea 3-2 in a tense semifinal before going down 3-5 to China in the final

India’s scoring prowess and sturdy defense came in for commendation from the knowledgeables here.

To honour the fabulous India, the organizers opted have a member of the team for the coveted honour. Subhadra Pradhan, who anchored Indian defence so efficiently and effortlessly, has been the unanimous choice of the Indian coaching staff, which the organizers accepted gladly.

Incidentally, Subhadra played her one hundredth match here in Bangkok.

She had a collective cap of 98 before coming here. When India played against the hosts in its second match, Subhadra achieved this personal milestone

Chief coach Kaushik spoke highly of her.

“She gave her best in the tournament, she richly deserves this honour”, the beaming coach opined

Subhadra expressed happiness over the rare award. “Honestly speaking I did not expect this”, she said.
