SV Sunil, who struck the winner against Pakistan on Thursday, will play for India’s last match tomorrow, as he got a reprimand for his misbehavior, much against much talked about ‘ban’.

Sunil has profusely regretted his action — showing middle finger towards a section of the crowd after striking the goal which was well and truly got on live camera’- in the meeting that was called by the Tournament Director Sarinder Dillon in the presence of Indian manager.

Speaking to stick2hocky.com yesterday night during the official dinner and party, he said: I am really sorry for doing this. The crowd was abusing India with vulgar words, and I was also targetted by them often. Its all foul language. Still I feel I am wrong, I should have done it. I will regret for this throughout”.

Tournament Director Sarinder Dillon visited media box to inform: “We had the meeting today, SV Sunil has expressed regret, and also duly apologised. I have given him a reprimand, which meant he can play tomorrow’s match”.

India has already completed six matches, and is anxiously awaiting the result of other three matches today.

Though it is certain that India will play for bronze, there is a bright chance that India can still make it to the second finalist if some results go in its favour.

If Argentina loses to Malaysia and then Pakistan defeat Great Britain, both are likely, India will be in the final.

Sunil’s presence in the team therefore is very vital for India for its last match on Sunday.

The team can now heave a sigh of relief on Sunil getting only reprimand.
