Defence a big letdown, says skipper Rajpal

New Delhi, March 12: The crowds who had cheered Team India despite their poor outing throughout the World Cup jeered them as they left the pitch after a 2-4 loss to Argentina. The players looked dejected after a below-par performance in which the Indian defence proved yet again that it was the weak link in the line-up.

Said skipper Rajpal Singh, “The defence was very weak but we didn’t expect to lose by a margin like this. We need to sit down and think about where we went wrong. This apart we will do a video analysis of all our matches again. We also missed the presence of a strong defender like Dilip Tirkey, he’s the best.”
On the other hand, coach Jose Brasa said what worked against India was lack of mental strength.

“For many months now I have been requesting for a mental strength expert for the team, but the officials are yet to appoint one.”
