GURGAON: Air India drew 2-2 with Bharat Petroleum after trailing 0-1 at half time in a group ’B’ quarterfinal league match of the 20th Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday.
Gurpreet Singh and Sher Singh put the Bharat Petroleum team ahead in the 34th and 58th minutes respectively, but Bimal Lakra and Amir Khan found the equalisers in the 44th and 67th minutes respectively for Air India.
It was a better result for Bharat Petroleum after it had lost its first match to Army XI, while Air India had recorded a comprehensive victory against Namdhari XI.
In another group ’B’ encounter, Namdhari XI revived its fortunes marginally with a 3-3 draw against Army XI, after the teams had locked 2-2 at half time.
Malak Singh, Harpreet Singh and Gurmail Singh scored the goals for Namdhari XI. Chittaranjan, Eliazer Lakra and Ignace Tirkey found the target for Army XI.
