DAV College triumphs
NEW DELHI: DAV College, Jalandhar, defeated Desh Bhagat College, Bardwal, Patiala, 4-2 in the tie-break after the teams were locked 2-2 at the end of the regulation period, in the inaugural match of the SAIL 17th Nehru Champion Colleges hockey tournament at the MP State women’s hockey academy, Kampoo, Gwalior, on Monday.
Jagir Singh, Jagshanpreet Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Amandeep Singh converted the penalty for the Jalandhar team.
Sarwan Singh and Jashanpreet Singh sr. had scored the goals in the regulation period earlier, to keep the Jalandhar team afloat, after it had trailed twice.
Gurinder Singh and Devinder Singh scored the goals for Patiala.
In the tie-break, Sarabjit Singh and Deepanshu converted for the Patiala team, but Gurdeep Singh and Gurwinder Singh missed the target.
