KOCHI: T.G. Vignesh fired in a hat-trick as Sree Narayana HSS, Thrikkanarvattom, blanked St. Joseph’s (Chakiath) 3-0 and won the junior boys’ title in the Major Dhyan Chand inter-school hockey tournament here on Saturday.

St. Albert’s School won the senior title, staving off a strong challenge from Darul Uloom (Pullepady) at 3-2.

Darul Uloom’s M. Mohit (seniors) and Sree Narayana’s T. G. Vignesh (juniors) were adjudged as the best players of the tournament which was organised by the Albert’s Hockey Club.

The results: Senior final: St. Albert’s HSS, Ernakulam 3 (K.C. Begam 2nd min., Jerjus 6th & 10th) bt Darul Uloom, Pullepady 2 (Mohit 27th, 30th). Semifinals: St. Albert’s 1 (Praveen 15th) bt Sree Narayana HSS, Thrikkanarvattom 0; Darul Uloom, Pullepady 2 (M. Mohit 12th, 14th) bt Don Bosco, Vaduthala 1 (Essin 15th). Junior final: Sree Narayana HSS, Thrikkanarvattom 3 (T.G. Vignesh 8th, 18th & 23rd minutes) bt St. Joseph’s, Chakiath 0. Semifinals: St Joseph’s 1 (Binu 11th) bt Darul Uloom, Pullepady 0; SN HSS 2 (Vignesh 6th, Mustafa 10th) bt Seven Day Adventist, Kaloor (Saquib 14th). Best player: T.G. Vignesh (SN HSS).
