IHF chief hits out at FIH
Bangalore: R.K. Shetty, President of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), on Tuesday hit out at what he alleged was undue interference by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in Indian hockey.
Speaking at a Karnataka Super Division hockey league press conference here, Shetty felt resolution of any issues between IHF and Hockey India (HI) had to involve only the two parties, the sports ministry, and the Supreme Court of India. “The FIH cannot interfere in this situation at all,” he said. “It is our internal matter and they are just taking advantage. They (FIH) know the money and the people for hockey are in India. They are just milking the cow here.”
Shetty clarified that he was not questioning the authority of the FIH in general but only its stand in this instance. “I’m not saying that the FIH should not exist; we follow all their guidelines. But they can’t dictate terms in our internal matters.” — Sports Reporter
