India holds New Zealand
New Delhi: The Indian women’s team drew 2-2 with New Zealand in the second Test to maintain its 1-0 lead in the five-Test hockey series at the Endeavour Trust Twin Turfs in Palmerston North on Sunday.
For India, Rani Rampal scored a field goal in the 34th minute and Subhadra Pradhan struck with a penalty corner in the 69th minute.
Piki Hanahoma (14th) struck through a penalty corner and Charlotte Harrison (67th) scored through a field goal for New Zealand.
Hanahoma drew first blood to put New Zealand ahead in the 14th minute.
Equaliser
Rampal struck to draw parity with a 34th minute goal as the two teams went into the breather locked 1-1.
In the second half, Harrison scored a brilliant field goal to put New Zealand 2-1 ahead and two minutes later Pradhan scored a valuable goal through a penalty corner to save India the blushes. The third Test will be played at Kett Capital Hockey Stadium, Napier on Wednesday. — PTI
