India to meet SL in opener

NEW DELHI: India will take on Sri Lanka in its opening match of the girls’ under-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament in Shanghai on July 20.

Placed in Group ‘A’, India will meet host China and Thailand on July 21 and 23 respectively in other league matches.

An 18-member Indian team, led by N. Ambui Devi, will leave for Shanghai on Saturday.

The squad: Suniti Kispotta (GK), Sanarik Chanu (GK), Th. Pinky Devi, Apoorva Vishwakarma, Sunita Lakra, P. Sushila Chanu, Jyoti Sharma, N. Amubi Devi (capt), Monika, Jamila Bano, Pratibha Chaudhary, Binita Kindo, Anila Sosan Beck, Rajani, Kavita Vidyarthi, Anupa Barla, Lalrothuami, Ramngaihzuali.
