Lyallpur Khalsa and Desh Bhagat in semifinals
NEW DELHI: Lyallpur Khalsa College (Jalandhar) proved too good for Al-Ameen College (Bangalore) as it cruised to a 6-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the SAIL 17th Nehru Champion Colleges’ hockey tournament at the MP State Women’s Hockey Academy, Kampoo, Gwalior, on Saturday.
Ajay Kumar (2), Jasjit Singh (2), Harwant Singh and Mandeep Singh scored the goals.
In another quarterfinal, Desh Bhagat College, Bardwal, Patiala, defeated Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, 3-0 after the teams were locked goalless at halftime. Deepanshu (2) and Sarabjit Singh scored the goals.
In the semifinals to be played on Sunday, Jawaharlal Nehru PG College, Bhopal, will meet Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, while Desh Bhagat College will meet Lyallpur Khalsa College.
