Surinder Kaur to lead
Bangalore: Surinder Kaur will lead the Indian women’s hockey team in the four-nation tournament commencing at Santiago on January 17. Chile, Italy and Argentina are the other teams in the fray.
Meanwhile, the Indian Women’s Hockey Federation (IWHF) also announced the junior squad led by Th. Ranjita, that will compete in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival at Sydney from January 14.
The teams:
Senior: Goalkeepers: Deepika Murthy and Yogita. Defenders: Eti Srivastava, Pushpa Pradhan and Sandeep Kaur. Midfielders: Satyavathi, Asunta Lakra, Subhadra Pradhan, Kirandeep Kaur and Mukta Barla. Forwards: Poonam Rani, Rijuta Mallick, Surinder Kaur (captain), Mamta Kharb, Chanchan Devi, Vartika Singh, Monika and Deepika Thakur. Officials: M.K. Kaushik (chief coach), Vasu Thapliyal (coach), Dr. R. Gandhi (physical trainer), Dr. Kiran Kulkarni (doctor).
Junior: Goalkeepers: Jasjeet Kaur and Savita. Defenders: Joydeep Kaur, Preethi Sunila Kiro and Sulochana Kisan. Midfielders: Th. Ranjita (captain), Manorama Devi, Susheela Chanu, Rosalind Ralte and Amubi Devi. Forwards: Soundarya, Anuradha Devi, Vandana Kataria, Binita Xess, Ritu Rani and Rani Devi. Officials: Y.S.
