ALUVA: P. Jithesh scored two goals as the host Union Christian College thrashed Chennai’s Guru Nanak College 5-0 and entered the men’s semifinal of the Dr. A.K. Baby memorial inter-collegiate hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

Also making the last-four grade was defending champion Jamal Mohammed (Trichy) which defeated Ernakulam’s St. Albert’s 4-2, via the tie-breaker. The teams were level 1-1 at the end of the regulation period with the goals coming from St. Albert’s Tyson (32nd minute) and Jamal Mohammed’s Manikandan (50th).

Men’s quarterfinals: Union Christian, Aluva 5 (J. Jijith 21st, Sudheesh Kailas 30th, P. Jithesh 36th & 41st, M.V. Haridas 44th) bt Guru Nanak, Chennai 0; Jamal Mohammed, Trichy bt St. Albert’s, Ernakulam 4-2 via tie-breaker (full-time 1-1).
