MP Academy outclasses DLW Varanasi

MP Academy outclassed DLW Varanasi by 7-4 in their day’s match of the 31st All India KD Singh ‘Babu’ Memorial Invitation Prize Money Hockey Tournament at Dhyanchand astro-turf stadium, Lucknow on Thursday.

Dodging defenders DLW forward Hari Kesh succeeded in breaking the ice in the 11th minute of the play. However, Shailendra Bundela of MP Academy made no mistake in capitalising on penalty corners awarded to his team in the 15th and 30th minute to make the half-time score 2-1 in favour of his team. Shashi Kant scored the equaliser in the 41st minute. Shailendra Bundela netted another goal in the 51st minute through a penalty-stroke to put MP Academy in lead again. Mangal Vaid made made full use of a penalty-corner awarded to MP Academy in the 52nd minute to consolidate the lead further. Rana Pratap netted a well-timed goal in the 55th minute to make the score 5-2 in favour of MP Academy. Though Shashi Kant scored two more goals after that to bring down the margin to 5-4 but MP Academy players Sameer Khan (64th minute) and Armaan Qureshi (67th minute) scored a goal each to ensure a 7-4 win for their team.

In another match of the same tourney, Corps of Signals beat Uttar Pradesh Police by 4-3.
