Rival faction in Uttar Pradesh hockey holds show of strength
The state hockey faction led by former hockey international Bula Ganguly was joined by former Hockey India secretary general Mohammad Aslam Khan, Olympian Ashok Kumar and office-bearers of a number of district bodies in a show of strength in Kanpur on Tuesday.
Bula said officials from several districts were protesting the affiliation given to Sanjay Singh-led faction with JN Tyagi as secretary. “Our body with captain Baldev Singh as president and myself as secretary was given recognition on July 7 last year. We would forward our objections to SK Mendiratta, the government-appointed observer for the upcoming HI elections,” she said.
