UP cops to meet BSF in quarters

Guwahati, March 16: Uttar Pradesh Police today blanked out Jharkhand Police by 7-0 goals in a Pool F match to set up a quarter-final clash with the BSF, Guwahati in the 59th All-India Police Hockey Championship under way at the Maulana M. Tayebulla Hockey Stadium here.

In the last group league match, the UP policemen gained command over the proceedings right from the word go and gave very little opportunity to the Jharkhand counterparts to even raid their castle. BSF had booked the round of eight berth winning both their matches without conceding any goal.

They beat Maharashtra Police 4-0 and Railway Protection Force 16-0 in the group league.

In the other quarter-finals to be played tomorrow, hosts Sasashtra Seema Bal will play Punjab Police, Haryana Police will clash with Central Reserve Police Force and Central Industrial Security Force lock horns with Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The semi-finals will be played on Friday and the final as well as the third playoff will take place on Saturday.
