F United girls win Dubai tourney
MUMBAI: The F United Sports Club girls hockey team from Mumbai won a women’s hockey invitation tournament at Dubai organised by the local Lusitanian Sports Club.
In the eight-team event sponsored by UAE Exchange and held at the Cambridge School, F United Sports beat Dubai Hockey Club 1-0 the goal being scored by Balraj Kaur who won the player of the tournament award. They beat Dubai Scholars 7-0 in the semi-final.
United’s Nimmy Nair was adjudged the best defender of the tournament.
The team has been invited to play in an invitational tournament in Ontario, Canada from June 4-6. Dhanraj Pillay accompanied the team as coach and former Junior India player Hillary Gomes was the co-ordinator.
