Hockey India General Council meeting on June 14

NEW DELHI: Undeterred by the revival of the KPS Gill-led Indian Hockey Federation, Hockey India (HI) on Friday convened its Special General Council Meeting here on June 14.

In a communication to all its member units, HI asked one male and one female representatives each from the affiliated bodies to attend the meeting.

Apart from that, HI also asked the affiliated units to give the names of their representatives by June 11.

“From state/UT, one male and one female representative and from Institutional Board only one member (either gender) have to come for the Special General Council Meeting and they should carry photo ID,” the letter issued by HI secretary general Narinder Batra read.

“All states which have legal cases going on should carry their case file, all upto date orders and also a legal opinion from a lawyer about their present status,” it said.

According to the letter released to the media by HI, the agenda of the meeting would be ratification of its affiliation process, amendment of its constitution, nomination of executive board members and balance sheet approval among others.

The letter also states that HI would bear the expenses for lodging and boarding of all the representatives.

HI’s plans to run the sport in the country received a severe setback recently when the Delhi High Court had quashed Indian Olympic Association and government of India’s de-recognition of IHF.

If that was not enough, soon after the court order the Sports Ministry had directed HI not to proceed with their much-awaited election process until the matter is examined by the Ministry of Law.
