Justice has been done, says Gill
NEW DELHI: KPS Gill sounded elated after the Delhi High Court’s judgment gave a fresh lease of life to the former Punjab Police chief-led IHF on Friday.
Gill, however, was guarded about his future plans. “We don’t want to rush in an illegal, arbitrary and unconstitutional manner,” he told TOI when asked about his plan of action in the wake of the judgment.
Gill said he was still the president of the IHF and would take future steps after due consultation. “I am the president, acting president of IHF. We will have to consult everyone and have to look at the rule book, the constitution and then take a decision. “In any case, the government has already withdrawn the recognition to Hockey India as stated in an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court.”
Gill said IOA, in the first place, had no power to dissolve the IHF. “IOA is nobody to disband the IHF. They have no power to do so. They misled the press totally and tried to build up public opinion (against IHF) in which they failed.”
Gill said as far as his priorities are concerned, he would be hosting the senior Nationals next month as well as championships for juniors in the coming days.
“I am very happy. Justice has been finally delivered to us. The order speaks for itself. Now we have to follow it up and ensure that hockey is revived,” Gill said.
“We have to start climbing the ladder once again because the last two years have been disastrous,” he told a news agency.
