MP, Andaman, Jharkhand register huge wins in National hockey championship

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Academy (MPA) thrashed Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) 17-0, while Combined Universities (CU) routed Tripura 16-0 and Jharkhand defeated Manipur 9-0 at Hockey India’s first men’s National hockey championship on Sunday.

MPA’s Vikas Chaudhary, Mohammed Hamid, Surendra Goud, Ravi Xess, Deepak Singh rained goals and overwhelmed Andaman and Nicobar 17-0.

MPA dominated the match and scored the first ground goal at the 5th minute.

Similarly, CU player Karanpal Singh converted a penalty corner into a goal in the 4th minute starting his team’s domination over Tripura which finally culminated in a 16-0 victory.

CU players Jasjit Singh Kular, Ajay Kumar, Manpreet Singh, Manjinder Singh and Balwinder Singh played an excellent game and hit the board. Tripura skipper Nadeem Ahmed and Jaki Kalai too made some moves but failed to capitalise.

Jharkhand players Roshan Minz, Bikesh Toppo, Anil Xaxa and Ajitesh Roy scored the nine goals against Manipur.
