Olympians hail truce between players and Hockey India

Former Olympians hailed the truce between the striking hockey players and Hockey India but said it’s time to devise a proper marketing plan for the game.

“This will serve as a lesson for those who run the game. It is their duty to fetch sponsorship and the administrators should provide world class infrastructure.”

Joaquim Carvalho, former india player/coach

“I think a right decision has been taken. It was important because we don’t have a good second batch for the World Cup.”

Pargat Singh, former india captain

“That (poor marketing) has always been the problem with hockey administration for the last 30 years. We need to market the game better and rebuild the entire image of the game.”

MM Somaya, former india skipper

“It’s a positive development. I hope the boys will now be motivated before the World Cup”

MK Kaushik, olympian

Sports minister Gill happy

“I have been watching the situation that prevailed for the last four days. I am happy that the issues have been resolved.”
