Rs 50,000 reward to each Indian hockey player for Azlan win

BHOPAL: The Indian men’s hockey players, who recently won the Azlan Shah hockey tournament, were rewarded Rs 50,000 each by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Chouhan honoured the players and officials including chief coach Jose Brasa by giving them a cheque of Rs 50,000 and a memento each at a function held at his residence last night.

The function was attended by 13 players and six officials.

Chouhan said that he was willing to keep blank cheques ready if the team continued to perform in the same vein.

“Keep performing and I am ready with blank cheques for the team,” Chouhan said.

The Indian team reciprocated by gifting an official jersey of the Indian hockey team, signed by each player, to the chief minister.

India were declared joint winners in the Azlan Shah hockey tournament, along with South Korea, in Malaysia earlier this month.
