Swaminarayan beat VT Convent to win Inter-School hockey title
NAGPUR: Swaminarayan Vidyalaya edged out VT Convent 7-4 via tie-breaker to clinch the title of the VHA Inter-School U-17 Boys Hockey tournament at the VHA ground on Monday.
At the end of regulation period, the score was tied at 4-4. Swaminarayan forward Harsh Patel slammed three goals (3rd, 19th and 31st minutes) while Vishal Sanghani added one more in the 14th minute.
However, VT Convent was equal to the task and leveled the scores. After Kaustub Baradiya opened the account in the seventh minute, Nathulal Sutare struck three goals 9th, 16th and 28th minutes.
Swaminarayan held their nerves and scored three goals as Ujjwal Yadav, Gaurav Selokar and Pranay Kuthe converted their strokes. VT Convent players failed miserably in the pressure situation.
In the third place match, St Joseph’s Convent, Jaitala beat Railway Janmandal HS 2-1, courtesy a brace by Kunal Raute.
Raunak Chaudhary reduced the margin for Railway Janmandal.
Former MP Datta Meghe and VHA officials distributed the prizes.
