NEW DELHI: The Kolkata High Court on Tuesday served a contempt notice on the ad hoc committee managing the game of hockey in the country, with reg
ard to the logo controversy relating to India’s senior and junior teams.

Leisure Sports Management (LSM) had filed a petition in the court after the Indian men’s team players did not sport the logo of regular sponsors Sahara on their jersies during the Punjab Gold Cup in Chandigarh last month.

In the order, justice Indira Banerjee asked members Suresh Kalmadi, Randhir Singh, AK Matoo, Aslam Sher Khan and Rajiv Mehta “to show cause as to why no action should be taken against them for wilfully and deliberately violating the court orders by permitting the junior team to practice wearing merchandise apparel and using kits bearing a different logo, as well as the senior team wearing the apparel and kit with the ‘TK’ logo”.

It also said that the members violated the orders by permitting the senior team to practise in New Zealand and Australia without the Sahara logo and letting the junior team practise in Bhopal without the same. The court also asked the members to appear before the court personally on April 16.
