Malaysia rejects Pak invite for hockey series: The Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF), which is yet to appoint a foreign coach for their team, has turned an invitation by the PHF for a Test series next month. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had extended an invitation to the MHF for a series in February to revive hockey activities at home. However, the MHF was forced to turn down the proposal since the Malaysian team is without a coach at present. ”The PHF was awaiting a final decision, but the MHF officials have turned down our request, saying they have yet to appoint a foreign coach for their team and above all their team is not prepared for the tour,” a PHF spokesman was quoted as saying by the ‘Daily Mail’. An MHF official said in a message that the foreign coach for their team is yet to be appointed and they also don’t have the proper preparation for the proposed tour. The PHF would now request Korea, China and Japan to come to Pakistan and play a hockey series for the preparations of the Asia Cup to be held in May in Dubai. — UNI
