ROURKELA: Two players of SAIL Hockey Academy (Rourkela-Orissa) have been chosen for the national U-21 hockey camp being organised at Sonepat (Hariyana) from 26th May. The dashing forward Birendra Lakra and dependable left back Amardeep Ekka have left Rourkela on 25th May to join the camp. The camp is scheduled to be held from 26th May to 8th June. The camp is being organised under the supervison of National coach A.K.Bansal to prepare the junior team for a tour of Poland and Junior Asia cup to be held at Hyedrabad in July.
Birendra Lakra is a fifth year trainee with the SAIL Hockey Academy (Rourkela). He has already represented Naional U-18 team which toured Singapore in 2007 to participate in a 8 Nation tournament, where India finished as runners up. Amardeep Ekka,the fourth year trainee, is yet to don the national jersy. Before this camp he has attended two other national camps but failed to get the nod of the selectors. This opportunity might well turn out to be his lucky one.
