TK Sports pip Rakshak Sports in tie-breaker

JALANDHAR, SEPT 4:TK Sports won the Punjab Double leg Six-A-Side Veteran Hockey League by beating Rakshak Sports with an aggregate 14-13 margin in tie-breaker at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today. Olympian Surinder Singh Sodhi DIG PAP gave away the prizes to the teams.

TK Sports, captained by Padma Shree Pargat Singh, displayed good game in the early minutes of the match. Gagan Ajit Singh, Kulbir Singh, Shamsher Singh Sheera scored three goals in a row for TK. After that Rakshak Sports, led by Olympian Rajinder Singh iniitiated some good moves and scored two goals. The scorers were Baljit Singh Dhillon and Surjit Singh.

After that Pargat Singh, Shamsher Singh Shera scored two goals for TK. For Rakshak Daljit Singh, Rajinder Singh and Baljit Dhillon scored three goals to equalize. For Rakshak Surinder Singh and Iqbal Singh Sandhu made some good saves to gave life to their team. After that Mohan Singh scored for TK. At lemon break TK were leading by 6-5.

On crossing over Rakshak Sports put up good display to put TK on the backfoot. For Rakshak Baljit Dhillon scored two, and Rajinder struck one to get 8-6 lead. After that Ranbir Rana Tutt and Gagan Ajit Singh scored two beautiful goals to equalize (8-8). Jaswinder Singh Sangha, Gaganajit Singh and Pargat Singh scored for TK. For Rakshak Rajinder Singh, Avtar Singh and Surinder Singh scored to equalize (11-11).

Tied 11-all, the tie-breaker rule was applied. In tie-breaker session, TK Sports scored three and Rakshak converted three. ( 14-13).
