Wizards grab the last semifinal slot

Struggling Uttar Pradesh Wizards grabbed the last semifinal slot, by narrowly defeating Mumbai Magicians 1-0 in Mumbai.

Earlier in the first match, Delhi again stamped its authority on the game against the home team Punjab and took early 3-0 lead before ending the match at 3-2.

Punjab has played its full quota of 12 matches.

Ranchi Rhinos, which is second in the points table make up the semifinal line up.

Only after other two matches, the exact semifinal line up will be known.

Despite Joren Hertzberger missing a stroke — his push hit the right post — Wizards hung on to the slender one goal lead struck by Luke Doerner, to frustrate home team Mumbai of any slender chance of bouncing back to the tournament.

Mumbai started well earning a penalty corner in the very first minute, but Sandeep Singh was no match to in-form goalie Bezelley.

Mumbai got another PC only in the dying moments, where Harbir Sandhu charged him out.
